Tony judges the Fritton scarecrow competition

Tony judges the Fritton Scarecrow competition!

This community event brought together members of the village  of Fritton in Great Yarmouth along with many visitors, with standards of entries being extremely high. Although this proved a difficult competition to judge, the eventual winner, Linda Bowman produced a couple with an interest in gardening and knitting relaxing together. Their charming qualities came to the attention of the judge, Tony Wright MP. Second prize was awarded to a dancing girl by Jan Burton with third prize going to the 'duck house' scarecrow, by Marianne Binding.

Here is a photograph of the 'winning couple relaxing' with Tony.

Tony said:

'It was a brave crow that dared to land in the village of  Fritton on Saturday but a pleasure for all others to look around and see all the various scarecrows 'in action'.  The competitors certainly brought extra personalities  to the village and the characters gave  a new form of life to the event with their various poses.   Well done to all involved, it was a great community event.
