National Dementia awareness campaign launching in March
Department of Health launch 'Dementia Awareness' Campaign
This March, the Department of Health with the support of the Alzheimer's Society will be launching a major national awareness campaign about Dementia. This is part of the five-year National Dementia Strategy for England which is aiming to radically transform the quality of life for people with Dementia and their carers in England. The awareness campaign forms part of the Department's commitment to improve public understanding of Dementia.
Using national radio, television, press and online advertising, people with Dementia will be given the chance to talk about their experience of the condition. This will encourage others to find out more about Dementia and the simple ways they themselves can help someone living with it. Increasing public knowledge about Dementia will prevent sufferers being avoided, stopping them from feeling isolated and discriminated against.
The theme for the campaign will be "Dementia - The more we understand, the more we can help."
