Mums-to-be to benefit from one-to-one care

Mums-to-be to benefit from one-to-one care

A £635,000 investment in NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney will allow mums-to-be to benefit from professional one-to-one care during labour.

The money will go towards recruiting 14 additional midwifery staff at James Paget Hospital, and the investment forms part of the region-wide investment of the ‘Maternity Matters’ programme. The programme is aimed at increasing the quality and choice of care available to all women both before and after labour.

The Primary Care Trust has also increased the availability of ante and post-natal care, which now runs sessions six days a week enabling patients to access care at a time which suits them.

Tony said:

‘This investment further adds to the excellent quality healthcare available to the people of Great Yarmouth, and will be warmly welcomed by expectant mothers across the borough.

‘The Maternity Matters programme will ensure that every mother is offered effective and personal care that is convenient to them, from the moment they find out about their pregnancy, to after the baby is born. This is excellent news for Great Yarmouth’s health care services.’
