MP dissapointed by Newtown Youth Centre's failed People's Millions Bid

MP disappointed by Newtown Youth Centre’s

failed People’s Millions bid

Tony Wright MP has said he is disappointed that a bid for Newtown Youth Centre to get The People’s Millions funding has failed.

Despite tireless efforts by those involved with the project, and a last minute campaign by Tony in Parliament to gain support from MPs, the centre failed to get enough votes to secure the £50,000 funding.

Tony said:

‘I’m very disappointed that Newtown Youth Centre failed to get enough votes for its People’s Millions funding request, but I do want to thank those who did vote. This is a huge setback for the centre, but I know it will bounce back from this as it did from the recent arson attack.

‘The fact that there are still people voluntarily giving their time for the centre shows how big a part of the local community it is, and I know that the dedication and commitment people show to the centre mean that it will be up and running again in no time. I will do everything I can to help in achieving this aim and I look forward to seeing the Newtown Youth Centre rise from the ashes soon and again benefiting the local community.’

Newtown Youth Centre is a voluntary project committed to the local area and dedicated to putting an end to anti social behaviour. The Project works closely with various agencies including Norfolk constabulary and Children’s services and the work effort over the last 2 years has seen a significant reduction in anti social behaviour and drink related crime.
