MP confident Norfolk is prepared for swine flu

MP confident Norfolk is prepared for swine flu.

28 July 2009, Great Yarmouth.

Tony Wright MP has said that he is confident that Norfolk is well prepared to deal with the current outbreak of swine flu.

Tony was reassured that health bosses feel that they have full access to medication for swine flu, after a survey by the Department of Health has revealed that Norfolk has more anti-viral collection centres than almost anywhere else in the UK.

Tony said:

‘The findings by the Department of Health are very encouraging and the people of Great Yarmouth and the rest of Norfolk can rest assured that they are in one of the best prepared places in the country when it comes to dealing with swine flu.’

There are more than enough courses of anti-virals to treat the entire population of Norfolk, and 5,200 out of 90,000 courses have been given out so far.

There are 30 pharmacies able to provide Tamiflu in the NHS Norfolk area as well as a recently opened 24-hour anti-viral collection point.

Anyone concerned they may be displaying swine flu symptoms should use the National Pandemic Flu Service on 0800 1 513 100 or log on to the service's website at www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu
