Macmillan coffee morning a success

Macmillan coffee morning a success

Tony Wright MP has said that he is pleased that the Macmillan coffee morning he hosted on Monday 21 September, was a success.

The coffee morning, part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event, promoted the good work of the cancer charity and also raised awareness of the hard work that Macmillan nurses do every day.

Tony said:

‘I am grateful to have had the opportunity to host such an event and be part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is really important that people affected by cancer have the opportunity to talk to each other and learn of the fantastic work Macmillan does and the services it provides.

‘This coffee morning was also a great opportunity to raise money for Macmillan and I want to thank everyone who came and helped make the day the success that it was.’

Last year two million people around the UK took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising a massive £7.5 million. This year the charity hopes to raise over £8 million from the event, on Friday 25 September, to fund its vital cancer services.
