Heat your home for less with new

Boiler Scrappage Scheme

Tony Wright MP has welcomed the introduction of the Boiler Scrappage scheme that was announced in last month’s pre-Budget report.

The scheme will give households in England £400 off the cost of a new boiler and will help thousands of households reduce their energy bills and cut CO2 emissions. To qualify households need to have a working G-rated boiler that is over 15 years old.

Householders below the age of 60 can only apply if the boiler is the main boiler used to heat the home. For those aged above 60, this is not the case and the boiler also does not have to be in working order.

The scheme will also support thousands of jobs in the heating industry, similar to the success the car industry is enjoying with the Car Scrappage scheme.

Tony said:

‘This initiative is good news on several levels and I know it will be welcomed by many households as upgrading a boiler can save up to £200 a year. Not only will it give people a new, efficient boiler that will help reduce energy bills, it will also help to reduce emissions levels as well as helping the heating industry.

‘This announcement shows that the Government is committed to helping people during this economic downturn and sits well alongside other measures such as the Warm Homes programme and the winter fuel allowance for the elderly.’
