Free swimming in Great Yarmouth

Thousands take advantage of ‘free swims’

in Great Yarmouth

Tony Wright MP has said that he is delighted so many people are taking advantage of the Government’s Free Swimming Programme here in Great Yarmouth.

The scheme has attracted almost 50,000 people and is for

people aged 60 and over, or those 16 and under who can are able to get free swimming sessions in Great Yarmouth, which is part of the Change4Life programme – the nationwide programme to help everyone eat well, move more and live longer.

Tony said:

‘This scheme is a fantastic initiative by the Government and a great way for people to get more enjoyment out of sport and staying fit. Swimming is one of the country’s most popular sporting activities, and this programme is an important part of plans to secure a real long term legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I urge everyone to get out there and take advantage of this brilliant programme.’

The Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth runs free swimming periods every day with further details available on 01493 851521. In addition, the Phoenix pool in Bradwell also has daily free swimming sessions, with further details on 01493 664575.
