Downing Street reception

Tony Wright MP accompanied three local coxswains to a special Community Heroes event at Number 10 Downing Street.

Steve Bartrum, Coxswain of Gorleston and Great Yarmouth RNLI, Adam Rossiter, Coxswain of Hemsby Inshore Lifeboat, and Paul Williams, Coxswain of Caister Independent Lifeboat, attended the event, hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

This is the first time in the history of the lifeboats that all three coxswains have been photographed together, and they were at the Community Heroes event at the invitation of Tony who wanted to recognise their voluntary work and commitment to duty, risking their lives to be on service and available every day of the year.

Tony said:

‘It was an honour to accompany Steve, Adam and Paul to this event at Number 10. It is right that we have this opportunity to recognise their hard work, dedication and courage. These three men are a representation of a number of volunteer crew members who risk their lives to save others, and are people that Great Yarmouth can draw inspiration from and be rightly proud of.’
