Great Yarmouth’s MP Tony Wright has today welcomed the government’s announcement setting out £2.5 billion of investment in the East of England for housing, regeneration, transport and economic development over the next three years.
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) will be working closely over the coming months to agree a joint response to the government on the region’s priorities for this investment.
The government has also set out the indicative funding for the period 2011 - 2019 for the region, which is estimated to be £7.5 billion.
Tony Wright MP said: “This funding is excellent news for the area and shows the Government recognises the challenges we face in the East in terms of housing, skills and transport.
We need to make sure this investment is used to best effect and I look forward to working with all the interested parties, from EEDA, EERA, and the private, public, voluntary and community sectors, to ensure we use this money to really benefit the area and continue our upward progression”.
